About The Role
We are offering a unique opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to join our team in a 2-year fixed-term Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role offered at 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) to be worked on a rotating roster Monday - Saturday between the hours of 0800AM - 1030PM, with a supported pathway to becoming a permanent Nurse Practitioner (NP).
This development role is designed for nurses who are ready to take the next step in their advanced clinical career. As part of this pathway, you will be expected to enrol and complete the Nurse Practitioner Training Programme (NPTP) within the 2-year period. Once completed you will be offered a permanent NP position at Mercy.

- Collaborating with Credentialed Specialists to optimise health outcomes for consumers
- Provide comprehensive care across the healthcare continuum for the Mercy patient group
- Oversee and support the management of patients with complex needs
- Provide clinical leadership support and education to staff
- Enrolment and successful completion of the NPTP within the 2-year term
- A supported CNS role with development and supervision opportunities
- Guidance to meet NPTP enrolment requirements
- Clear pathway to a permanent NP position following successful completion of the NPTP

- Hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, pursuant to the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, as a Nurse and current practicing certificate.
- Proficiency in advanced nursing procedures/practices
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical practice within the defined scope of specialty practice.
- New Zealand Resuscitation Council CORE qualification
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to relate well to health professionals and members of the public
