Kensington Private Hospital is a busy 24/7 surgical hospital that’s proud of its people and the incredible care we provide. We're looking for a Payroll / People & Capability Adviser to join our tight-knit team in a fixed-term maternity cover role (6–12 months).
This unique position blends hands-on payroll processing with HR advisory work – and gives you the chance to lead wellbeing and culture initiatives that truly make a difference.

Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing (in a rostered/shift-based environment)
- Managing and resolving payroll queries with confidence and accuracy
- Supporting day-to-day HR processes: onboarding, recruitment, ER, and more
- Opportunities be involved in interesting project work that span organisational design, learning & development and employee engagement
- Leading and coordinating employee wellbeing and culture initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, practices, and NZ employment law
- Building strong partnerships with managers and staff across the hospital
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years’ experience in an HR Coordinator/Advisor role
- 12+ months’ experience in payroll processing (preferably shift-based)
- Proficiency in NZ payroll platforms (e.g., AMS, PayGlobal, Datacom)
- Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Great attention to detail and pride in accurate work
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Ability to manage your own workload and stay calm under pressure
- A warm, proactive, and solutions-focused attitude
