About the Role Kensington Private Hospital is a busy 24/7 surgical hospital that’s proud of its people and the incredible care we provide. We're looking for a Payroll / People & Capability Adviser to join our tight-knit team in a fixed-term maternity cover role (6–12 months).

This unique position blends hands-on payroll processing with HR advisory work – and gives you the chance to lead wellbeing and culture initiatives that truly make a difference.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing (in a rostered/shift-based environment)
  • Managing and resolving payroll queries with confidence and accuracy
  • Supporting day-to-day HR processes: onboarding, recruitment, ER, and more
  • Opportunities be involved in interesting project work that span organisational design, learning & development and employee engagement
  • Leading and coordinating employee wellbeing and culture initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, practices, and NZ employment law
  • Building strong partnerships with managers and staff across the hospital

What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years’ experience in an HR Coordinator/Advisor role
  • 12+ months’ experience in payroll processing (preferably shift-based)
  • Proficiency in NZ payroll platforms (e.g., AMS, PayGlobal, Datacom)
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Great attention to detail and pride in accurate work
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Ability to manage your own workload and stay calm under pressure
  • A warm, proactive, and solutions-focused attitude
