Babcock is looking for a Senior Buyer to join the Procurement team based in Devonport, Auckland .

About The Role

This is a pivotal opportunity to take on a high-impact procurement role within a leading defence and marine engineering environment. As Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for end-to-end purchasing functions, supporting critical engineering and operational projects. You’ll ensure performance, accuracy, and compliance within ERP systems, manage supplier relationships, and help embed best practice across the organisation.

You’ll support engineering change projects, lead contract and invoice processes, and drive tactical sourcing. This role suits someone who thrives on accountability, enjoys working across cross-functional teams, and understands the importance of timely and effective supply chain operations. About You

You are a proactive procurement professional with strong ERP system knowledge and excellent coordination skills. You bring commercial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple supplier relationships confidently. With a background in logistics, inventory, or engineering procurement, you know how to meet deadlines and solve problems under pressure. You work well with others, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your work. You’re ready to make an impact in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Key Required Skills

  • Strong ERP system proficiency (including training and support)
  • Tactical sourcing and contract support
  • Inventory and logistics process management
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Supplier and stakeholder relationship management
  • KPI tracking and performance reporting
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in International Shipping procedures will be highly regarded


Key Required Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance (DSC)
  • Experience in a commercial procurement environment
  • Understanding of Trade Controls and ITAR compliance
