What You’ll Bring

Are you ready to contribute to multi discipline projects across Aotearoa? We're looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington team — someone who thrives on delivering technically excellent work, building trusted client relationships, and making sustainable outcomes the norm.

As a senior engineer in our Land and Water Service Group, you’ll be part of a team that’s changing how major civil works are designed and delivered — with carbon neutrality and resilience at the core.

What's the mahi?

You’ll take the lead on complex civil design projects that shape the places we live and work, including:

  • Urban development and revitalisation
  • Infrastructure planning and design for both public and private sector clients
  • 3 Waters and utilities design across major Wellington and national projects

Your role will span the full project lifecycle — from early strategy and stakeholder engagement to delivering designs that are ready for tender and construction.

More Specifically, You’ll

  • Lead the development of technical design solutions and apply your civil expertise to solve our clients’ toughest challenges
  • Champion technical excellence and design quality across every phase of a project
  • Convert ideas and analysis into tangible, build-ready designs
  • Write and present compelling reports, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Use your industry networks and client-centric mindset to build trusted partnerships and secure repeat business

You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and working alongside multi-disciplinary teams to bring bold, sustainable ideas to life.

What do you bring?

We’re after someone who’s curious, collaborative, and motivated by purpose.

You’ll Bring

  • 7-8+ years' experience in a consultancy-based civil engineering role (ideally within Aotearoa)
  • A Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or similar tertiary qualification)
  • Strong experience across general civil design – including roads, subdivisions, earthworks, drainage, water civils, utilities, pavements, and more
  • Solid knowledge of New Zealand civil design standards
  • Proficiency with design software such as Civil 3D or 12D
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills – with clients, communities, and contractors alike
  • A collaborative spirit, strong cultural awareness, and a desire to mentor others
