We are looking for a Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor to join our Governance and Corporate Communication team. This role supports elected member communications, media and stakeholder relationships, and internal and corporate communications.
You’ll be involved in a wide range of mahi, including:

We’re Looking For Someone Who
Ideally, you’ll be tertiary qualified in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.

We are looking for a Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor to join our Governance and Corporate Communication team. This role supports elected member communications, media and stakeholder relationships, and internal and corporate communications.
You’ll be involved in a wide range of mahi, including:
- Covering Council meetings and delivering stakeholder updates
- Supporting governance and elected member communications
- Delivering proactive communications and supporting media relationships
- Collaborating with internal clients to deliver our internal communications strategy
- Contributing to corporate communication initiatives

We’re Looking For Someone Who
- Has a background in writing, marketing, stakeholder relations, communications or engagement
- Can proactively identify, research and write engaging content for diverse audiences
- Works well in a team with both reactive and proactive responsibilities
- Builds strong relationships across the organisation and influences community engagement
- Translates complex or technical information into everyday language
Ideally, you’ll be tertiary qualified in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience in communications, engagement, or stakeholder relations
- Understanding of te ao Māori and te reo Māori, or a willingness to learn
- Experience in iwi engagement is a plus
- Knowledge of environmental and/or political contexts is useful
