Are you a technically strong accounting professional looking to step into a key leadership role at one of Aotearoa’s most iconic brands? As Sky’s Deputy Financial Controller, you’ll work closely with our CFO and Head of Financial Control to ensure the integrity of our financial reporting and controls.
You’ll lead the preparation of our annual and interim financial statements, provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters, and drive key improvements as a subject matter expert across finance transformation initiatives. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is confident presenting to senior stakeholders and the Board, while also getting into the detail where needed.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Leading the preparation of financial statements and disclosures in line with NZ GAAP and IFRS.
- Providing expert technical accounting advice across Sky, including drafting position papers.
- Acting as SME for finance transformation, driving process efficiencies and enhanced controls.
- Ensuring Treasury reporting and compliance, including FX exposure management.
- Supporting internal governance, process improvement, and audit recommendations.
We’re looking for someone who is both technically brilliant and a trusted advisor—able to translate complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations. Essential
- CA qualified (or equivalent) with 5+ years’ post-qualification experience in a Big 4 or NZX-listed corporate environment.
- Proven experience preparing—not just reviewing—financial statements.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (especially NZ IFRS 15, 16, and 9; and SAAS accounting).
- Demonstrated experience in financial transformation and process improvement.
- Confident communicator, comfortable presenting complex information to senior leaders and Boards.
- Experience managing or coaching a Financial Operations team.
- Exposure to FX hedging and Treasury reporting.
- Familiarity with internal audit frameworks and implementing enhanced financial controls.
- Experience in a media, telco or tech environment would be a plus.
