Our mahi (work) is organised around the delivery of our three core services:
In this role, every day the Advisory Team face new questions across the whole spectrum of activities impacting on the environment right across the Canterbury Region. Your knowledge of resource management will be constantly extended and challenged, and you will need to be able to confidently interpret technical information. Your customer contact will be office based with a mixture of face-to-face, email and telephone enquiries.

Ideally, you’ll be tertiary qualified in science or resource management field that you can apply in a front office environment to support our customers. Equally if you are tertiary qualified in another field and looking for a new challenge.
You’ll be a confident communicator and be capable of engaging with a wide variety of people, assessing their needs, whilst providing a positive customer experience. You’ll be a natural multitasker and can think on your feet when needed, when handling a few tricky enquiries - but most importantly you’ll enjoy collaborating with your team, having fun in your day!

- Deliver consistent responsive quality advice for technical customer queries
- Interpret and translate technical plans, rules, and legislation to effectively communicate
- Capture and record accurate and complete information in the appropriate database/system
- Own the customer enquiries and relationships, being the front face of the organisation
- Actively maintain currency and relevance of legislation, plans, policy
- Provide input to projects, campaigns, and meetings

- Experience in customer service and ability to confidently navigate a variety of conversations
- Positive customer focus that recognises the role we play in making a difference to our community, environment, and our Canterbury region
- Strong written skills and the ability to tailor your approach when delivering information
- Excellent computer skills to navigate databases, and other electronic tools
- Experience in working within a legislative environment would be an advantage
