The Opportunity
We are inviting Expressions of Interest for the position of Quantity Surveyor to support potential upcoming medium to large-scale civil infrastructure projects across the Auckland Region.
The ideal candidates will have a diverse background of experiences within civil construction, with a strong focus on horizontal infrastructure (everything eye-level and below you could say).
We're looking for individuals with a solid background in complex and varied civil works, ideally within:
- Airport infrastructure - Taxiway, Terminals, Pipeline and Service Integration
- Water Infrastructure - Pump Station, Repair and Relining of complex pipework
- Utilities - Brownfield site developments
- Road and Highway safety improvement projects of larger value
In addition to the above you will:
- Prepare material and quantity take-offs and scheduling
- Setting up of RFQ's for subcontractor and suppliers
- Subcontractor and supplier evaluations
- Prepare feasibility studies and consult with clients on construction costs, pricing and reviews
- Prepare reports about projected building costs for clients and undertake cost planning to ensure the project stays within budget and provide regular progress reporting to the client
- Commercial risk identification and management
- Financial reporting forecasting
- Work with project managers in the preparation of monthly progress certificates, variation orders, monthly cost reports, costs to complete, and in the preparation of any contractual claims Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with any specification or standard prepared for a particular job
- Working closely with the bid team, participating in, and delivering tender reviews for senior management
- Managing the handover of successful tenders to operational staff
What you will bring to the role:
- Hold a minimum QS qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 7
- Must be proficient in the software CCS Candy along with Microsoft Suites
- Have a minimum 5+ years' experience as a QS
- Be at the level of intermediate to senior
- Proficiency in commercial risk and profitability
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- A focus on efficiency and ROI with an improvement mindset
- An ability to work with multiple deadlines
