Senior Network Engineer (Multiple roles, Fixed Term & Permanent)

Location: Auckland Central - Hybrid working

Contract Type: Initial 12 month Fixed-Term

Start Date: ASAP

I am looking for a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer with a deep seated passion for a large-scale complex project. This role goes beyond basic configuration; it involves strategic planning, deep technical expertise & leadership.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the design & development of the comprehensive plan, including phased approaches, rollback strategies, and cutover procedures for complex environments.
  • Deeply understand the current network architecture, identify all firewall touchpoints, dependencies, & potential impacts of migration on the overall topology.
  • Analyze existing firewall rule sets and security policies across diverse platforms, rationalizing, optimizing, and translating them for the any old & new firewall infrastructure while maintaining or enhancing security posture.


What We’re Looking For


  • Expertly configure, deploy & integrate solutions (e.g., Cisco FTD/ASA, FortiGate, Check Point, Palo Alto) into a highly complex network. This includes intricate routing, NAT, VPNs, high availability, clustering, and multi-context setups.
  • Ensure seamless integration of firewalls with existing & new network devices (routers, switches, load balancers), security tools (SIEM, NAC) & cloud environments, addressing intricate routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), MPLS, and overlay networks.
  • Utilize scripting (Python, Ansible) and automation tools to streamline configuration, policy deployment, and migration tasks, particularly for large-scale, repetitive operations.
  • Advance diagnostics, troubleshooting, problem Resolution, root cause analysis,
  • Create & maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, security policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks for the new infrastructure.
