The opportunity is to join our Whangarei team as an Civil Engineer and grow your skills and experience as part of our established team in the Tai Tokerau region. Our work encompasses all aspects of developing civil infrastructure including grading, drainage, roading and utilities. In this role, you will carry out civil design, construction monitoring and project management and be involved throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. You will be able to tap into Beca's technical specialists and multi-disciplined workforce, as well as apply your own expertise to get things done. This is a great hands-on role for an organised, motivated individual with a broad base of civil engineering skills and an eye for the bigger picture. We are also open to part-time roles to accommodate different work-life balance needs.

While our office is based in Whangarei, our commitment and efforts extend beyond the city, covering all of Northland. This allows us to provide comprehensive support and services to a diverse range of clients throughout the region. As an intermediate engineer, you will be on your way to gaining Chartered status and have a generalist civil background in design and/or construction.
Your Skills And Experience
This role will enable you to combine your passion for the environment and your technical capabilities to help solve real world client problems. You will enjoy working with people from a range of backgrounds to understand their needs. You will provide robust technical advice and analysis to improve environmental outcomes.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Your Skills And Experience
- Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or closely related discipline
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in construction supervision of earthworks, drainage, utilities and roading
- General civil design skills and the ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary team
- Experience leading the design of small to medium projects
- Commitment to working safely and within Beca’s H&S systems
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for engaging with a broad range of audiences
- Full driver’s license

This is a broad role where ideally your background will include an understanding and experience in:
- Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations.
- Environmental management, compliance and monitoring, including erosion and sediment control practices.
- Collection of environmental samples (such as soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and asbestos) via a range of methods, including hand auger, test pitting and drilling.
- Preparation of health and safety documentation prior to site works.
- An understanding and experience working with New Zealand’s legislative and planning framework with respect to contaminated sites and earthworks.
- Proven ability in data analysis including the use of software such as ESdat and GIS
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- A degree in environmental science, geology or related discipline.
