About The Role
McConnell Dowell is looking for a talented and flexible Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our New Zealand team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a diverse range of infrastructure projects, supporting our teams throughout the country.
This role will be based in our Auckland, Christchurch, or Wellington office, but spans across New Zealand with regular travel to project sites throughout the week. If you thrive on variety, enjoy being hands-on, value strong client relationships, and like working alongside high-performing teams to solve challenges on the go this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities Include
- Support multiple project sites with mechanical engineering leadership and expertise.
- Manage and coordinate on-site engineering functions and provide oversight to junior engineers and support staff.
- Work with project teams to translate design specs into practical site execution.
- Monitor material deliveries, ensure compliance with specifications, and arrange for any adjustments as needed.
- Lead and coordinate engineering workloads across various locations, ensuring smooth delivery.
- Track progress, costs, and materials across sites to support project completion within scope.
- Review supplier and subcontractor documents for quality and accuracy.
- Assist with construction planning including resource and equipment requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors across multiple locations.
- Degree in Mechanical engineering.
- 10 years plus experience in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong project engineering experience with hands-on site knowledge.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly across New Zealand.
- Proven leadership and mentoring ability within engineering teams.
- Good understanding of HSE standards and a commitment to safety.
- Confident communicator who can build strong relationships with various stakeholders and clients.
