We are looking for Senior Tax Consultants to join our Christchurch based team. You will be a tax professional looking to continue your career with a leading brand.
As part of the Deloitte Tax team, you will enjoy and thrive to make an impact that matters and deliver exceptional client service. You will demonstrate strong core technical skills, with the opportunity to make a real contribution to the growth of our successful team.
During your tenure as a Senior Tax Consultant, you will be responsible for working with a number of corporate clients, eventually developing into managing a portfolio of clients. You will develop effective business relationships with clients, deliver outstanding tax advice, exceed our client’s expectations and partner with their businesses to grow.

Job Description
Your typical day will include:
- Provide expert tax compliance and tax consulting advice across diverse range of corporate clients and large privately owned businesses.
- Delivering exceptional client service; maximising results and working in a high performance team.
- Applying and developing your knowledge of current and pending NZ tax legislation and understanding interaction of the NZ rules across global tax functions.
- Fact based decision making by using appropriate research techniques and skills.
- Improving efficiency, effectiveness and client service by using common technology tools.
- Helping clients to identify, manage and mitigate tax risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, resolve tax disputes and realise business goals.
- Advising on a wide range of business tax matters from tax compliance to tax planning. Our large tax team provides you with opportunity to grow your generalist tax knowledge together with the ability to focus/ further develop any areas of specialist interest you may have including employment taxes, GST and international tax.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you. You are someone with:
- At least 2 - 4 years’ work experience in a tax environment (either in law or professional services).
- A professional qualification in law and/or accounting.
- A strong understanding of end-to-end tax processes and core tax technical skillset.
- Excellent team player and communication skills.
- Results driven & client oriented.
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.
