Bendon is a leading retail brand specializing in intimate apparel across New Zealand and Australia. We are dedicated to providing our customers with exceptional products and experiences. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Payroll Manager to join our team.

Role Overview: As the Payroll Manager at Bendon, you will play a critical role in managing end-to-end payroll processes for both New Zealand and Australia. You will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in payroll operations while supporting our teams across both regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Manage all aspects of time and attendance and payroll processing for NZ weekly, NZ monthly, and AU fortnightly payrolls.
    • Setup new starters and manage internal updates such as contract variations in Ready Workforce.
    • Handle terminations in Ready Workforce and in our HRIS, World Manager.
    • Manage IRD and ATO interactions, including IRD changes and separation certificates.

  • Compliance:
    • Ensure legal and tax compliance across payroll processes in both countries.
    • Review payroll reports and HR-driven changes to ensure accuracy.
    • Maintain up-to-date payroll information and provide ad hoc reporting to HR and GMs.

  • Reporting:
    • Deliver high-level, timely payroll reports to the leadership team.
    • Collaborate with Finance on budgeting and provide accurate reports to auditors.

  • Monthly Finance Tasks:
    • Post monthly payroll journals and accruals to the finance system.
    • Complete NZ PAYE payments and AU PAYG withholding tax payments.
    • Process monthly payroll tax payments for applicable Australian states.
    • Ensure timely superannuation contributions in Australia and reconcile payroll GL accounts.
Required Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience in managing end-to-end payroll processes for NZ and AU.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AU and NZ legislation related to payroll.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Ready Workforce) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Experience in a retail or multi-site environment is advantageous.
