The Doctors Te Whare Hapara are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to look after the patients across 4 rest homes in Gisborne.

Each rest home has a 2 hour scheduled morning visit once a fortnight. An appropriate visiting day is decided between yourself and each rest home clinical nurse manager. There are times when you may need to visit outside of this scheduled visit, for example if you have an end-of-life patient, and completing death and cremation certificates as they arise. Then the rest of the work is done remotely.

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner must excel in comprehensive patient care, performing autonomous assessments, diagnoses, treatments, screenings, and prescribing medications. Offering personalised advice requires a friendly, compassionate, and proactive approach. Leveraging prior knowledge and skills, you'll care for a diverse patient base across all age groups. You'll receive support from GPs, experienced nurses, administration, and the Medical Centre Manager as part of our collaborative team.

This is a contractor position working 8-10 hours per week.

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • A current registration with the NZNC as a Nurse Practitioner and current APC is essential
  • Your practice aligns with the principles of The Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Prior experience in a medical centre is an advantage
  • You practice aligns with the principles of The Treaty of Waitangi.
  • An aim to improve healthcare access across the practice population
  • An in-depth knowledge of and passion for primary health care
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced clinical nursing practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to build strong rapport with team members.
  • A physically fit person who is confident, friendly and approachable.
