Job Description

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect’s key objective for Cloud Infrastructure is to partner with customers, internal sales teams, engineering and product teams to design, demonstrate and deploy solutions that address customer business problems.

The goal is to drive Oracle Cloud customer consumption by accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud services including discovery, design and deployment. This is demonstrated by simplifying and enhancing our customer experience by evolving the technical cloud ecosystem and framework enabling our teams to maximise their technical and commercial capabilities and deliver value for our customers and Oracle.

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the full adoption lifecycle from project concept to usage and expansion within the customer.

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect will be performance measured against Oracle KPIs to meet objectives for the Cloud Engineering organisation; such as, customer adoption, consumption, technical win rates, and value realization across the engagement lifecycle.

Priorities include:

  • Maintaining an awareness of the topology and workloads within the customer and is highly technically competent.
  • Drives alignment with the Cloud Sales Rep, working as a team within the customer to define/drive sales strategy.
  • Orchestrating the technical teams/skills required to ensure our technology is driving customer business outcome and sustainable usage/growth.
  • Monitoring the Customer Adoption Health (looking at usage and impact on business KPIs). Drives value realization along the engagement lifecycle.
  • Drive the full adoption lifecycle of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including emerging workloads such as AI/ML, Kubernetes, and cloud-native services.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing deployments that align with customer business goals and Oracle’s cloud transformation strategy.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep experience in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AI/ML services with hands-on solutioning across enterprise workloads.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes, containers, and serverless platforms.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into secure, scalable, and performant cloud architectures.
  • Track record of presenting to and engaging with C-level executives and enterprise architects.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across sales, engineering, and customer teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide cloud transformations, migrations, and AI solution adoption.
  • OCI Certifications in AI, Kubernetes and Cloud Security desirable.
  • Broad technical experience of Oracle Cloud solutions along with high levels of experience in implementing and accompanying customers in Oracle Cloud adoption including a good understanding of Cloud Architecture. The role will primarily focus on cloud but as/when it meets customer needs will be involved in hybrid on premise/cloud designs.
  • Demonstrates leadership capability including the ability to delegate responsibility to the right teams/skills sets.
  • Clearly able to articulate the Cloud offerings in the market and with the ability to discuss architectures
  • Fluent in current Oracle PaaS and IaaS products and experienced in designing simple through to complex and large-scale cloud projects
  • Expertise and hands-on experience in Oracle PaaS and IaaS related technologies – such as Java, integration, mobile, security, storage, compute, and networking.
  • Translate needs into solutions leading to customer success
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for a group with high degree of comfort speaking across all levels of management (eg IT management, Architects, administrators and executives).
  • Is Certified in OCI and/or database cloud service
  • Familiar with 3rd party and Oracle Architecture frameworks (eg TOGAF, ECal)
  • Upskill as required, must have the aptitude to develop architect capability.
  • High level of commercial business understanding
  • Intelligence to identify key trends and insights and leverage them in driving decision making and execution within customer
  • Experience in engaging and influencing senior leaders.
  • Ability to build relationships to grow business. Act as a partner to our customers, not just a vendor.
  • Strong collaboration skills and drive for impact and influence
  • Experience of earning customer loyalty, culture and change management
  • Experience in conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Experience in understanding complex customer ecosystems with the ability to translate customer needs into workable solutions.
  • Proven success delivering large-scale cloud projects.
  • Exposure to regulated industries (finance, healthcare, public sector) preferred.


Preferred Qualiifcations

  • Minimum qualifications include 8 years experience with experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure design, or enterprise IT.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited university; advanced degree is ideal.
  • Deep expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data integration, security, performance tuning, and migration strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with modern analytics platforms, data lakes, streaming data, and real-time analytics.
  • Familiarity with competing platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP ) is advantageous.
  • Ability to influence technical decision-making across customer stakeholders, from engineers to executives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of customer engagement and success.
  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional or equivalent cloud/data certifications.


Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver cloud-native and AI-driven solutions using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AI/ML services, and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Partner with sales and customer stakeholders to identify business objectives and architect scalable cloud strategies.
  • Lead proof-of-concepts, solution blueprints, and production deployments aligned with cloud and AI adoption goals.
  • Conduct architecture workshops and technical deep-dives with clients and internal teams.
  • Create and maintain technical assets including white papers, blogs, solution guides, and architecture patterns.
  • Present Oracle’s cloud-native and AI capabilities to customers and at industry events.
  • Serve as a thought leader in cloud-native architectures, influencing both customers and Oracle’s internal product roadmaps.
  • Guide customers from concept through to production, ensuring usage growth and long-term value realization.
  • Engages with strategic customers, builds leadership relationships at multiple levels within organizations in order to design and implement solutions.
  • Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions.
  • Solution implementation for successful deployments through code development and scripting.
  • Displays product/application understanding through highly customized presentation demonstrations to customers, and at conferences, and events.
  • Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training.
  • Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations).
  • Serves as a leading contributor for customers and sales teams on technical cloud solutions and customer success.
  • Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features.
  • Leading contributor, may provide direction and mentoring to others.
  • Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.
  • Able to confidently interact with C level customers.
  • Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.
  • Outcome is to maximize usage and usage growth of Oracle Cloud.
  • Maintain current Oracle and/or industry level certifications as required.
  • Travel as required.
