Epsom Lodge is an 84-bed supportive accommodation residential facility in Auckland for men and women. Our residents have housing needs, often (but not always) accompanied by addiction, mental health and relationship issues. We provide 12+ weeks emergency accommodation, support and after care to assist in finding suitable long-term accommodation and begin the journey of addressing other life goals.
We also manage a small number of off-site transitional homes which currently house single women.
About The Role
The salary for this role will fall between $74,000 - $77,500
This role is full time and hours worked will be 40 per week.

About The Role
- This role reports to the Operations Manager but works as part of a team of caseworkers, support workers and AOD clinicians
- To facilitate and support the mission of The Salvation Army at Epsom Lodge
- Comprehensive Assessment and counselling
- Help Tangata to be aware of the impacts of trauma on AOD use and Criminogenic factors
- Develop and deliver group programmes
- Provide counselling interventions to clients ready to make change
- Strong advocacy for Tangata welfare and needs
- Good written and oral communication skills, including ability to write adequate records and reports.
- Maintains professional standards and knowledge of counselling best practice.
- Displays good understanding of cultural awareness with the ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Understanding of, respect for, and ability to work with The Salvation Army's mission, principles, and Christian ethos.
- Full driver's license.
- Minimum Mental Health/Addictions/Social Service Counselling qualification level 7 (or working towards) Graduate/Post Grad Certificate/Diploma in Addictions/ Mental health counselling (or willing to work towards completing)
- Registration with a relevant professional body such as NZAC or DAPAANZ
