This role is critical to the management of complex scientific environments across multiple locations, requiring a unique blend of strategic, technical, and leadership skills, plus a strong understanding of science infrastructure and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilities Management & Operations: Oversee the operations and maintenance of scientific facilities, ensuring compliance with scientific and safety standards.
  • Infrastructure Development: Lead new infrastructure projects, including laboratory renovation fit-outs and new constructions
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic and implementation plans for long-term facilities infrastructure and asset management, ensuring alignment with the goals of science operations.
  • Team Integration: Lead and integrate regional facilities teams, fostering collaboration and efficiency across multiple sites in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch
  • Project Management: Manage building projects from small to large-scale, explore innovative infrastructure solutions, and oversee capital planning.
  • Compliance & Certification: Ensure all facilities meet necessary certifications, standards and security requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Proven background in managing complex facilities, particularly in scientific or laboratory settings.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage and integrate diverse teams and ensure effective communication.
  • Technical Insight: Solid understanding of laboratory specifications, operational models, and compliance requirements.
  • Project Management: Extensive experience managing a range of small to large building projects and infrastructure planning.
  • Strategic Thinking:Ability to explore innovative solutions, optimise resources, and engage in long-term planning.
