Archway are looking for either an experienced payroller or up and coming payroll professional who is keen to secure their next role in Wellington CBD! This would be the perfect opportunity for someone who is keen to secure a role in a complex change environment, which will provide either great experience for the CV to build your career, or alternatively safe and secure work if you’re between roles.
About The Role
As a Payroll Advisor, you will assist and support the timely and accurate delivery of the end-to-end payroll process. You are responsible for administering accurate and timely payroll services and providing advice which complies with individual and collective employment agreements, relevant legislation and company policies. This role would also you require you to maintain roster information and ensure the transfer of accurate information to payroll for payment processing. Day to day tasks involved in this role will include:
Skills
You will ideally have prior experience processing the end to end pay run for a NZ payroll. You will be adaptable, ambitious and committed to process improvements. Beyond this, you will ideally have the following skills:
In return you will secure a 12-month FTC with a large government organisation who you can feel proud to work for and who play a crucial role in kiwi’s lives. You will be fully trained and developed in this role and join a team who are high performing, with a supportive manager. Given it is a change environment, chances of extension are high – or even permanence at the end of the project! You will also be eligible to WFH 1 – 2 days a week once established in the role.

About The Role
As a Payroll Advisor, you will assist and support the timely and accurate delivery of the end-to-end payroll process. This role would also you require you to maintain roster information and ensure the transfer of accurate information to payroll for payment processing. Day to day tasks involved in this role will include:
- Processing changes to personal and payroll data into the system. This can include new appointments, promotions, salary and allowance changes, overtime claims, deductions and terminations.
- Respond to payroll queries, providing support where you can and escalating as required.
- Peer review work to ensure quality assurance and ensure payroll activities meet audit requirements.
- Calculate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Skills
You will ideally have prior experience processing the end to end pay run for a NZ payroll. You will be adaptable, ambitious and committed to process improvements. Beyond this, you will ideally have the following skills:
- Experience processing payroll in a high volume, complex environment utilising a tier one or two payroll system
- Strong understanding of NZ Holidays Act, KiwiSaver, ACC, and IRD requirements
- High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Strong interpersonal skills—you’ll work closely with staff across all levels
- The ability to be discrete and confidential when handling sensitive information
