The region’s evolving environmental and political context means we will continue to be agile and adaptive, as we respond to regulatory and environmental changes.
Our mahi (work) is organised around the delivery of our three core services:
As the Regional Park Field Ranger, you’ll enjoy being outdoors in the field, working with nature and in biodiversity restoration. This position provides involves Parks maintenance, delivering work programmes, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This full time positions comprises of three days dedicated field ranger duties and two days committed to protecting and enhancing our natural environment.
You’ll also contribute to our fire response commitment by forming part of the Environment Canterbury Rural Fire Team as required.

Mōu │ About You
You’ll have proven experience in fieldwork operations and confident working in practical, hands-on roles in an outdoor environment. You’ll be a champion for the enhancement and protection of the natural environment. Ideally, you’ll have knowledge of the greater Christchurch area—its rivers, parks, and natural landscapes—which would be an advantage, though not essential.

- Have practical know-how and a “can do” attitude to get work done
- Have a high level of organisational skills and ability to work within timeframes
- Solve problems as they arise
- Display good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Current clean class 1 drivers licence – class 2 and 4 is desirable
- Grow Safe Basic or Standard preferred
- Plant/weed species identification skills are desirable
