The Opportunity
- This position is responsible for assisting the Wellington based Payroll Manager with the internal KPMG payroll and associated companies. Covering over 1500 staff and Partners within 7 locations throughout New Zealand the payroll administrator has shared responsibility for the end-to-end processes relating to the monthly payrolls in addition to any manual payment runs.
- Maintain payroll related master data for all employees within defined timelines in both the payroll and SAP system.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of employee entitlements and payments.
- Implement and apply controls to ensure accuracy of changes to employee entitlements and payments.
- Finalise monthly and manual payrolls and the required associated activities relating to processed payrolls.
- Respond confidently to staff enquiries relating to payments processed in a timely manner.
- Identify and manage risk and escalate to the Payroll Advisor or Manager if required.
- Ensure that the team delivers a high standard of service and a positive experience with our employees.
- Read and keep in contact with trends and developments in the payroll area.
- Further develop technical specialist knowledge in the payroll function.
- Use Datacom, SAP software and other professional software in an effective manner.
- Previous payroll experience (computer based) or experience in similar roles with transferrable skills.
- Knowledge and experience of PAYE, IRFiling and Superannuation is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Holidays Act (2003) and it’s requirements and the practical application of these requirements from a payroll and business perspective is preferred
- Competent in computer-based payroll programme/s (Datacom preferred), and the Microsoft suite (particularly Word and Excel)
- Experience with SAP preferred but not essential
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- The ability to cope with the pressure of meeting conflicting deadlines and client requirements
- The ability to confidently work independently.
