Due to growth and an impending merger, Archway are delighted to be partnering with a Crown agency who are looking to recruit this newly created position for a Financial Planning and Procurement Analyst.

The Role

Responsibilities

In this role you will be joining a small finance team of five, where your primary duties are to cover off all the responsibilities that you'd expect of a Management Accountant, plus other planning and procurement activities. The role therefore includes the following tasks :

  • Enhance budgeting and reporting capabilities.
  • Prepare revenue and expense analysis.
  • Provide product profitability and customer analysis.
  • Provide commentary on financial results.
  • Help build financial capability within the business by challenging the status quo, reviewing assumptions and cost drivers, and recommending viable alternatives.
  • Co-ordinate the annual budget round and the biannual forecast rounds.
  • Procurement - Develop a good understanding of procurement rules/regulations and current good practice. Be the Finance SME on Procurement Panels. Provide oversight of Supplier and Customer contracts. Contribute to providing assurance of procurement compliance and quality.
  • Systems - Assist in the delivery of the 2026/2027 finance system improvement programme, and proactively build relevant reports (financial and non-financial, as well as sustainability) utilising their FMIS and other reporting tools

About You

The Client Is Ideally Looking For Someone Who Has Finished Their CA Program And Possesses a Couple Years Of Similar Experience In Another Government Or Crown Entity. A Firm Background Is Nice, However The DIA Grad Program Would Also Be Looked At Favourably, Depending On The Nature Of The Secondments That Were Worked. Beyond This, The Client Is Ideally Also Looking For The Following Attributes

  • Demonstrable analytical skills and experience, with advanced excel skills.
  • Comfort within a complex, changing and often ambiguous environment.
  • You’ll also be results driven and have a commercial approach to your work.
  • To be an effective business partner, you’ll bring with you professional presentation, and excellent English communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Whilst the role is Financial Planning oriented, some exposure to basic financial accounting would be regarded favourably. Given it is a small team, there is expectation you may 'help each other out' on occasion to meet obligations or cover leave.

Please note: This role requires the successful candidate to work in the organisations city central offices 5 days a week.
