The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Household Assistant to join our small supportive team.

Working in the Housekeeping & Laundry Department, reporting to the Housekeeping & Laundry Manager, the Household Assistant is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in all patient rooms, corridors, lounges, utility areas and theatre to the infection control standards. The Household Assistant may be requested to provide support in laundry on occasions.

Responsibilities include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning patient rooms and bathrooms, staff areas and public areas such as waiting rooms. The Housekeeping & Laundry Department operates seven days a week and you must be available to work a range of shifts including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and school holidays.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will

  • Have proven experience as a cleaner or housekeeper. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a healthcare setting, food manufacturing or other environments with environmental cleaning standards;
  • Have the ability to work independently to prescribed standards;
  • Be able to maintain routine tasks related to our housekeeping policies and procedures;
  • Have effective communication skills;
  • Have a methodical and process-oriented approach;
  • Be a team player and work well with others;
  • Be self-motivated and able to work efficiently;
  • Be committed to working fully rotating and rostered shifts including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and school holidays.
