We are currently looking for a skilled Painter to join our dedicated team, working on residential and commercial projects in the Waikato Region. This is a full-time position that requires a minimum of 30 hours per week.
About the Role
As a Painter, you’ll apply paints, varnishes, wallpaper, and other finishes to protect, maintain, and decorate internal and external surfaces of buildings and structures working as part of a dedicated team on both residential and commercial renovation projects.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Erecting scaffolding, ladders, and using proper fall protection; placing drop sheets to shield adjacent areas
- Preparing surfaces: removing old paint/wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling holes/cracks, smoothing/sealing
- Selecting and mixing paints to required colour, finish, texture, sheen by blending pigments, thinners, additives
- Applying paint, varnish, stain, primers using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Hanging wallpaper (pattern matching, trimming), back-rolling ceilings post-spray
- Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment and work areas
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of two years of work experience in the construction-related industry.
- Ability to mix paints, prepare surfaces, use paint tools, scaffolding, ladders safely
- Comfortable working at heights with correct safety procedures
- Flexible availability, including occasional evenings/weekends as needed
- Reliable and hardworking with keen attention to detail and finish
- Able to work efficiently and responsibly both under supervision and independently
- Good communication skills; customer-focused and respectful
