About The Roles
Join AA Insurance's legal team and help us earn the trust of every New Zealander by protecting what matters most. We're seeking two Senior Legal Counsels to build our new in-house legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you'll provide expert legal advice, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and enable the business to achieve its objectives.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you'll provide expert legal advice, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and enable the business to achieve its objectives.
Both Roles:
What You Will Be Doing
- Deliver commercially focussed legal advice, strategies and solutions.
- Partner with the business to simplify complex legal problems.
- Manage and influence stakeholders to drive excellent business and customer outcomes.
- Act as trusted advisor to senior leadership and collaborate across teams.
- Advise on claims, policy response, product development, marketing and sponsorship, complaints and dispute resolution, litigation management, and strategic projects.
- Advise on corporate and regulatory matters, procurement, real estate, partnering, investments, marketing and sponsorship, and strategic projects.
What We Will Need from You
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with a minimum 7+ years of post-qualification experience.
- NZ practicing certificate.
- High level of proficiency in the application of laws and regulations in the financial services industry.
- Strong commercial acumen, decision-making capability and strategic mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of Insurance Law in New Zealand (in-house or private practice)
- Expertise in dispute resolution desirable
- Broad Corporate experience
- Regulatory advisory and/or investigations experience desirable
- Insurance or other Financial Services experience desirable
