Senior Software Engineer (AI Focused)

We’re on the hunt for a Senior Software Engineer (with a focus on AI) to help us build smart, scalable features that make our product faster, sharper, and more valuable for the people that use it. 

You’ll take the lead on designing and delivering AI-powered systems across our platform, from first prototypes all the way to production. Reporting to the COO and working alongside our talented dev team, you’ll bring your AI and software skills together to drive real product impact. You’ll also help upskill the team, guide best practices, and shape how AI fits into our future.

What you’ll do

• AI/ML Development: Drive the development and integration of AI capabilities into our platform by designing and implementing scalable, production-ready solutions. Rapidly prototype and test AI applications to validate their impact and feasibility and use these insights to guide product enhancements. Champion the growth of AI functionality within the product, ensuring each implementation aligns with broader business goals and technical standards.
• Software Engineering: Contribute high-quality code to our applications and services, ensuring that AI components are well-integrated and maintainable within our software stack.
• Technical Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the software development team, particularly in AI/ML techniques, model integration, software architecture and design, and best practices in AI-driven development.
• Architecture and Standards: Collaborate with senior technical staff to define architectural designs for AI applications within the platform and enforce best practices in model development, data handling, and deployment.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Product, software engineers and analysts to align AI initiatives with the product roadmap to meet internal efficiency and customer needs.
• Code Review and Quality: Conduct in-depth code reviews, contribute to quality assurance processes, and support testing and validation of AI components.
• Continuous Learning and Research: Stay current with advancements in AI and software development. Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and methodologies that enhance development efficiency and model performance.

What you’ll bring

• Hands-on experience deploying and managing AI models on cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
• Experience across the full software stack, with strong front-end development capabilities and a track record of delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Strong capability in integrating complex AI systems within existing technological frameworks.
• Proficiency in building scalable APIs and microservices with tools and languages such as Node.js and Python
• Strong understanding of server-side architecture, APIs, databases (e.g., Azure SQL, PostgreSQL), and data modelling.
• Experience working in an Agile environment, contributing to planning, estimation, and delivery.
• Ideally 5+ years of experience in AI and software development, with a proven track record of integrating AI solutions into production systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in optimizing complex AI workflows.
• Ability to step into an AI leadership role, driving AI initiatives, mentoring the team, and championing AI capabilities within the product.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with a focus on growing the team’s AI expertise and fostering a culture of innovation.
