What You'll Do

As a Senior People and Culture Advisor based in Wellington, you will play an integral part in shaping the employee experience by providing expert guidance across all facets of human resources. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you partnering with leaders to deliver practical solutions that enhance engagement while supporting strategic projects designed to drive cultural transformation. You will be instrumental in managing complex employee relations issues with empathy and professionalism; facilitating leadership development programmes; overseeing recruitment activities; implementing risk management frameworks; coordinating WHS initiatives; producing insightful reports; advising on remuneration frameworks; supporting onboarding processes; contributing to change management efforts; coaching others towards success; collaborating on cross-functional projects; maintaining compliance with employment legislation; building trusted relationships across multiple stakeholder groups; acting as a delegate for senior managers when needed; embracing digital tools for process improvement; advocating for inclusivity at every ultimately helping create an environment where every individual feels valued.

  • Provide comprehensive HR advisory services across all aspects of the employee lifecycle including employee relations, performance management, remuneration, policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety.
  • Partner closely with business leaders to foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that supports agility and innovation aligned with organisational strategy.
  • Coach and mentor leaders at all levels by leveraging support from senior managers to build capability and drive performance outcomes.
  • Support complex employee relations matters such as grievance investigations, performance improvement plans, workplace consultations, and act as an independent investigator when required.
  • Contribute to the identification of top talent through effective workforce planning while developing organisational capability in partnership with senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives for workplace health and safety systems ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
  • Lead proactive risk management activities including WHS audits, hazard inspections, risk assessments, and accurate maintenance of information systems.
  • Deliver timely reporting on HR metrics and WHS data to executive management teams ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for your portfolio in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure robust talent pipelines are maintained.
  • Support onboarding processes by ensuring accurate documentation is produced promptly for new employees while providing guidance on change requests, visa applications, payroll queries, learning initiatives, and policy interpretation.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian and New Zealand employment legislation along with proven experience applying HR policies within complex environments.
  • At least five years’ experience in an HR Advisor capacity including three years operating at a senior level within large or matrixed organisations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using HR information systems (HRIS) as well as payroll platforms to streamline processes efficiently.
  • Extensive background developing workplace health and safety strategies encompassing risk mitigation practices such as audits or incident reporting.
  • Proven ability partnering with business leaders on people strategies that align closely with broader organisational goals while maintaining compliance standards.
  • Experience managing intricate employee relations cases independently using sound judgement coupled with emotional intelligence.
  • Strategic thinking skills combined with initiative enabling translation of high-level plans into actionable outcomes that deliver measurable results.
  • Understanding of remuneration frameworks plus hands-on experience applying job evaluation methodologies within diverse teams or departments.
