Business Development Manager - Wellington

We are looking for motivated and talented Business Development Manager to join our high-performing Clients & Markets team, working with the firm to grow our business, win new work, and strengthen existing relationships and client experience.
We are open to this being a full-time permanent opportunity or a 12-month fixed-term contract initially, with potential for extension.
A key focus of the role is to work closely with Partners and their teams to advise and coach on all aspects of business development, including pitches, planning, budgets, market profiles, submissions, and reporting on progress and ROI.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the C&M Director and wider Clients & Markets team to deliver on strategic objectives, annual plans and projects, whilst managing the BD budget for your portfolio
- Leading BD activities including project management of pitches, creation of proposals and responding to specific client requirements
- Developing new client and cross-selling opportunities and progressing through the BD lifecycle
- Working with the C&M Director on the key account programme and taking the lead for designated accounts, ensuring best practice across the firm to deliver excellent client experience
- Reporting and analysis for the firm against market data, new initiatives and input into Board Reports
- Leading annual legal directory and award submissions for your portfolio
- Supporting Partners and senior staff with BD training, BD planning and coaching
Essential skills and experience required:
- In-depth knowledge of the Wellington market along with Government sector experience will be a strong advantage
- Relevant qualifications, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- Proven capability in business development, ideally in a professional services environment
- Experience in influencing senior decision makers as well as coaching and mentoring
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, and compelling writing skills
- Proven organisational, attention to detail and analytical / numerical skills
