Ventia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated SHEQ Advisor to join their team in Christchurch and help shape a proactive and engaged safety culture across their Energy Networks and Renewables (ENR) Business.

ABOUT THE ROLE – Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead and support incident investigations, support risk classification, and guide injury management in line with Ventia procedures. You’ll conduct site audits, monitor operational risks, ensure subcontractor compliance and support performance reporting using SHEQ systems. The role includes tracking actions in VenSafe, support audit schedules, monitoring training compliance, and promoting environmental initiatives across the project. You will act as coach and mentor to our Operational teams across the South Island with an expectation to travel to a couple of sites a week from Invercargill up to Nelson.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a solid foundation in health and safety principles, along with hands-on experience supporting operational teams in high-risk environments. A relevant qualification in Health and Safety is essential and experience in Electrical or High voltage environment is ideal. ICAM investigation training is also required.

Other Requirements Include
- Proven experience in incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments
- Familiarity with PowerBI, VenSafe or ability to learn and pick-up new SHEQ tools and systems are essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and influence teams
- Full Class 1 NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout the South Island
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
