About The Organisation

Our client is a respected non-profit delivering community-focused outcomes with national reach. They’re now looking for a permanent Head of Finance to step into a broad and meaningful role, taking full ownership of finance and operations across the organisation. With a small and agile team, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and purpose. This is a permanent part-time role estimated at 24 hours per week.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you’ll be responsible for all financial management — from budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting, to managing audit processes, payroll, and grant reporting. You’ll provide strategic and operational support to the CEO and Board, while also rolling up your sleeves to oversee payables, systems, and procurement.

Beyond finance, this position also touches legal, insurance, IT, and operational processes — offering variety and the chance to truly influence how the organisation functions day to day.

You’ll be supported by a part-time Finance & HR Coordinator and work closely with a collaborative leadership team.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • CA or equivalent qualification and strong experience in senior finance roles
  • A strong background in the NZ non-profit sector, with knowledge of grant management and Charities Services reporting
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting, and reporting capability
  • The ability to support strategic decisions while managing the detail
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the agility to wear multiple hats
  • Experience with Xero and confidence working across systems and suppliers

This is a great fit for someone who thrives in purpose-led environments, enjoys autonomy, and brings both insight and action to their work.

What’s in it for You?

  • A values-based organisation making a real difference
  • A part time 24 hours per week role with good flexibility
  • Broad scope across finance, operations, and systems
  • Collaborative, flexible team culture
  • Varied, hands-on work with visible impact
