What we need now is your capability.
This is your chance to:
- Get in at the ground level and shape the direction of our modern data platform (Snowflake, Azure, FME, Fivetran, Coalesce, and more)
- Build out the capability that enables a shift to self-service, governed, business-ready data
- Work alongside smart, curious people across Networks, Energy Services, Fibre, Renewables, Digital, People & Capability, Legal, and HSQE
- Leave a lasting mark on one of NZ’s most essential infrastructure providers
- Design, expand, and maintain Northpower’s modern data platform
- Act as SME for ingestion, security, governance, and performance
- Implement tools and patterns for robust, scalable data flows
- Monitor pipeline quality, lineage, and freshness with observability tooling
- Triage and resolve technical issues in partnership with Infra & Dev teams
- Own the platform tech roadmap and lead modernisation efforts
- Enable developers and analysts to deliver impactful data products

- Deep Snowflake experience - warehousing, ingestion, optimisation
- Strong Azure chops (Data Lake, Data Factory, etc.)
- Pro-level SQL (and query optimisation is second nature)
- Bonus: Spark, Iceberg, Fabric, Python, Java/Scala, ERP data, or observability/catalogue tools
- Agile experience and a working understanding of DevOps practices
- Relevant certifications (Azure, Snowflake, or data engineering)
