The opportunity:
As Head of Tax, you will lead Fulton Hogan's tax strategy, compliance, and advisory functions. You'll ensure the organisation meets all statutory obligations while driving value through effective tax planning and governance. This role is central to our financial leadership and will see you working closely with senior executives, external advisors, and tax authorities.
This role is based in Fulton Hogan Corporate offices in Burnside, Christchurch.
In addition to the above you will:
- Lead the development and execution of tax strategy across Australia and New Zealand.
- Provide expert tax advice on strategic initiatives, including M&A and cross-border transactions.
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation and lodgement of all direct and indirect tax returns in Australia and New Zealand.
- Ensure full compliance with local and international tax laws.
- Manage tax planning, governance, risk, and relationships with tax authorities.
- Oversee tax accounting, reporting, and audit readiness.
- Lead and develop a high-performing tax team and enhancing shared services capability.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and cross-functional collaboration on tax matters.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Proven experience in a senior tax leadership role, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
- Deep knowledge of Australian and New Zealand tax legislation, with international tax expertise.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence at executive level.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- CA/CPA qualified or equivalent, with a background in Big 4 or corporate tax environments preferred.
