We are looking for a Duty Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar during their shift, ensuring compliance with NZ's Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, providing high-quality customer service, and leading the bar team to deliver a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons and staff. This job offers at least 35 hours per week, requires flexibility for night shift and the pay rate is $27p/h
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act and maintain responsible service of alcohol.
- Act as the on-duty licensed manager under the Alcohol Licensing Act.
- Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally.
- Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are upheld in accordance with New Zealand regulations.
- Train, motivate, and support team members to deliver excellent customer service.
- Oversee cash handling, EFTPOS transactions, and end-of-day reconciliations.
- Coordinate with security staff to ensure patron safety.
- Report maintenance or operational issues to the venue manager promptly.
Requirements:
- Must hold a current Manager’s Certificate under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a bar or hospitality supervisory role.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of liquor licensing laws and responsible service practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Proven ability to handle high-pressure environments and resolve conflicts.
- Must be eligible to work in New Zealand or apply under the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme.
