We are looking for a Duty Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar during their shift, ensuring compliance with NZ's Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, providing high-quality customer service, and leading the bar team to deliver a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons and staff. This job offers at least 35 hours per week, requires flexibility for night shift and the pay rate is $27p/h

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act and maintain responsible service of alcohol.
  • Act as the on-duty licensed manager under the Alcohol Licensing Act.
  • Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally.
  • Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are upheld in accordance with New Zealand regulations.
  • Train, motivate, and support team members to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Oversee cash handling, EFTPOS transactions, and end-of-day reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with security staff to ensure patron safety.
  • Report maintenance or operational issues to the venue manager promptly.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a current Manager’s Certificate under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a bar or hospitality supervisory role.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of liquor licensing laws and responsible service practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Proven ability to handle high-pressure environments and resolve conflicts.
  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand or apply under the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme.
