About The Team

Our Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver solutions required to manage the real time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future. https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/our-system-operator-role

The group plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. They are working to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.

The Investment Delivery team within the OPTI group, manages the formal joint programme relationship with the Electricity Authority and works collaboratively with our Information Services Technology (IST) division to ensure the successful delivery of the Operations work programme.

Investment Delivery provides the governance structure to outcomes are delivered and seeks to maximise the resources and funding available, understanding technology dependencies and minimising change impacts, to deliver best value for money from investment undertaken by Operations. A new permanent role!

Based in Wellington, as one of two OPTI Change Managers and part of our broader Change Community of practice, you'll play a key role in developing project change strategies and plans that assess change readiness and communicate effectively with stakeholders. You'll work as a key member of project teams to integrate change management activities into project plans.

Ultimately, you'll design the change strategy & plan, and alongside the PM and project sponsors, lead and manage change for projects and initiatives to ensure successful implementation and adoption. Whilst building relationships with people who are passionate about keeping the energy flowing for Aotearoa, you'll lead the identification of change impacts and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

With nationally significant programmes of work to deliver, role is an ideal role for a qualified and experienced Change Professional seeking intellectually stimulating and varied project work and the opportunity to contribute to a unique organisation long term.

What will you bring?

Experience as a business (rather than ICT) change manager/practitioner in a complex, large-scale organisation. You'll be known for your clear, concise communication skills and ability to engage with people at all levels and ensuring change doesn't drift and business outcomes are achieved

  • Relevant tertiary and change management qualifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and operationalise change strategies and the required business impacts across process, people and technology.
  • Previous experience using change principles, methodologies, and tools, to identify and implement significant business change successfully, in varied contexts.
  • Proven ability to influence, constructively challenge and move people and projects at pace toward a common vision or goal.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Previous experience mapping strategy to business outcomes and aligning change initiatives.
