Role Summary
You will lead and develop a high-performing sales and broking team, ensuring consistent alignment with Capricorn’s strategic objectives. You will manage and monitor zone sales budgets, develop activity plans, and ensure the financial sustainability of operations. Strategic business planning will be a key part of your role, along with maintaining compliance with Capricorn’s Financial Advice Provider licensing obligations and internal policies.
In this role, you will also focus on strengthening and managing relationships with insurers and other key stakeholders. You will be responsible for achieving sales targets, monitoring team performance, and ensuring service delivery standards are consistently met. Coaching team members, conducting performance reviews, and maintaining regular engagement will be part of your leadership duties. Additionally, you’ll oversee CRM systems and drive continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency. Representing CRS at Capricorn events and supporting marketing initiatives will also be part of your remit.

Skills And Experience
- Demonstrated success in sales, particularly within the B2B SME market.
- Established experience as a people leader with a background in insurance.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Underwriting and Claims Leaders.
- Experience in operating within a regulated environment and conducting compliance reviews.
- Autonomy and Travel: Capability to work independently in a field and home-based role, with a willingness to travel.
- Adept at building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- A solid understanding of the New Zealand General Insurance market is expected
- Robus communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a leadership and coaching role within insurance broking or a related industry
- A proven track record in managing direct reports and ideally experience with remote teams
- RG146 Compliance: It is essential for the candidate to be RG146 compliant
- Hold a Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services – General Insurance is essential.
- Lead the team to achieve agreed sales metrics.
- Provide product knowledge training, sales skills coaching, and support career development.
- Develop strong relationships to deliver win/win outcomes for Members, RAMs, and the business.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory obligations and manage outcomes in line with Risk Advisory & Audit policy.
