Mō te tūnga | The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate educator to help lead the launch of our new Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) (Level 7). Join us in empowering future secondary school teachers and making a tangible impact through education.

As a Lecturer in our Teaching ( Secondary) programme, you will be at the forefront of preparing new educators for the dynamic landscape of today’s secondary schools. This is a unique opportunity to design and teach in a newly developed qualification that meets NZQA standards and reflects current educational priorities in New Zealand.

You’ll be working from our Auckland CBD campus, with a mix of in-person and online delivery, using tools like Canvas LMS and MS Teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lectures and workshops – secondary teaching and STEM based
  • Develop and review course content and assessments that align with NZQA standards
  • Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and support to students during their study and teaching practicums
  • Actively contribute to professional development and research in the field of secondary education
  • Ensure teaching practices incorporate te ao Māori, Pasifika perspectives, and uphold Mana Ōrite
  • Participate in programme moderation, quality assurance, and academic planning activities

He kōrero mōu | About You

You’re an experienced secondary teacher or teacher educator with a strong understanding of Aotearoa’s education system. You’re committed to inclusive, bicultural practice and passionate about helping new teachers succeed.

Ideally, You Will Have

  • A tertiary qualification in Education (ideally Masters minimum) and hold a current New Zealand Teacher Registration
  • Extensive teaching experience at the secondary school level or at a lecturing at a Tertiary level
  • A sound understanding of NZQA frameworks, assessment processes, and academic delivery
  • A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in education
  • Enthusiasm for curriculum development, research, and reflective teaching practices
