About the Auckland System Management (ASM) Alliance
The ASM is an alliance between HEB Construction, Fulton Hogan and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to operate and maintain Auckland's motorway network. The Alliance is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as suppliers to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers using the Auckland transport system. Estimated project dates are from July 2019 to June 2028.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced STMS to join our Incident Response team. As STMS, you will play a critical role in the delivery of professional incident response services across the Auckland state highway and motorway network.
This is a diverse role, where you will work in a dynamic team delivering efficient response to a range of incidents from vehicle breakdowns to significant crashes, environmental or spill responses, asset damage and adverse behaviour.
What you will be doing:
As STMS, you will have a variety of responsibilities including:
- Respond to incidents, including debris on road, crashes, animals on carriageway, asset damage, flooding and storm events, protests and emergencies.
- Operate under the CIMS framework for clear incident management.
- Perform on-site tasks to resolve incidents quickly and safely.
- Lead TTM initiatives, ensuring compliance with NZ TTM guidelines.
- Train and upskill staff in traffic management practices.
- Review SOPs and support implementation of new equipment and innovations.
- Conduct general maintenance and asset fault repairs.
- Provide backup to the Team Leader and support team operations.
Above all, you will work to prioritise safety for yourself, colleagues, the moving public, and the environment. ASM Incident Response is a 24-hour operation, meaning shift work is required. The successful candidate will be available to work this shift pattern on a rotating basis: Morning shift (04:30 - 13:00), Afternoon shift (12:30 - 21:00) and Night shift (20:30 - 05:00).
About You:
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and skills:
- STMS Cat C Practicing Certificate
- Full Class 2 New Zealand Drivers licence.
- Experience in a leading staff including developing people in TTM.
- Experience in incident response activities or similar industry.
- Experience in directing TTM at reactive incident sites.
- Risk assessment skills
- Physically fit and able to manipulate traffic devices such as cones and signs.
- Basic computer literacy and written skills.
- Workplace first aid trained (preferred).
