Here at Volpara, we’re on a mission to save families from cancer. By combining our ground-breaking Breast Health Platform with empowered patients, we are unleashing a revolution in cancer detection. You can check out more about what we do here.
We're looking for a Research Data Analyst to support the design, execution, and analysis of clinical research studies through expert data analysis, statistical modelling, and collaboration with clinical and technical teams. This role also contributes to the development and validation of new diagnostic tools and risk models by providing data-driven insights and ensuring rigorous scientific methodology.
When this role is successful, the organization produces high-quality, publishable clinical research that advances the understanding and effectiveness of breast cancer detection, enables faster and more robust validation of new products, and drives improvements in patient outcomes. In parallel, the Research Data Analyst generates insights from real-world data that inform both research hypotheses and product development strategies.
If you want to find out more about this fantastic opportunity to join our growing company making big changes in the world, read on!
What you'll be doing:
- Support clinical research efforts by analysing imaging and clinical datasets to inform study design, validate hypotheses, and generate statistically robust insights that contribute to peer-reviewed publications and regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with clinical experts and physicists to interpret data in the context of real-world breast imaging workflows and cancer detection challenges.
- Provide statistical expertise across research projects—guiding study design, power calculations, methodology, and interpretation of results.
- Work with data engineers to source and clean datasets from both internal and external sources, including de-identified hospital systems, and to streamline data pipelines for research use.
- Contribute to the development of novel risk prediction models and other advanced analytical tools aimed at improving breast cancer detection and patient outcomes.
- Conduct customer data analyses to support internal understanding of system performance, uncover productivity or quality issues, and benchmark sites against peers where relevant for research or product improvement.
What you'll bring to the role:
Essential:
- Strong working knowledge of statistics, preferably applied in a research setting
- Proficiency with at least one analytical programming language (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB)
- Ability to write and optimize SQL queries
- Experience in building clear and insightful data visualizations
- Comfortable presenting technical findings to a range of stakeholders (from scientists to executives)
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field
- Experience with Power BI or equivalent BI tools
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or cloud-based data infrastructure
- Previous experience in healthcare, clinical trials, or medical imaging
- Background knowledge of medical physics or imaging modalities
