Come and right wrong with us. At Shine Lawyers New Zealand, we challenge the norms of traditional law firms, and are committed to understanding the needs of our clients, pro-actively working to always stand up for the little guy. We are passionate about access to justice for our broad range of clients.

Shine has a reputation as a leader in plaintiff civil litigation in New Zealand. Our dedicated team delivers justice for our clients who have suffered losses, whether an insurance dispute, building defect dispute, earthquake claim, abuse law, class action / representative action, employment matter, estate litigation, relationship property issue or general civil litigation. We have seen an organic increase in actions brought by plaintiffs and, consequently require a “go-getter” to join our vibrant team.

The Opportunity

Permanently based in Auckland, this is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigator with experience contributing to the success of complex, major litigation disputes and/or class actions.

Whether you’ve come from defendant or plaintiff practice, you will have the opportunity to take a leading role on prominent cases, including contributing to case strategy, expert evidence and investigations into new class actions. We are proud to hold a portfolio of prospective class actions including, but not limited to, product liability, natural disaster, environmental, general insurance, and social justice-based class actions.

Reporting to an experienced Practice Leader, with mentorship from a team of highly experienced class actions practitioners, you will have an ideal balance of autonomy and guidance. With compassion, connection and purpose, you’ll truly champion our clients by:

  • Managing the conduct of multiple class actions, using case plans and effectively delegating and overseeing the supporting legal team.
  • Providing strategic advice and updates to Shine’s partnered litigation funders on budgeting of individual and portfolio matters.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with our clients, providing regular and effective communication whilst managing expectations.
  • Contributing to the origination and development of new class action opportunities.

While this is a full-time opportunity, we are open to offering flexible work arrangement options, including work from home options once established, and part-time with a minimum of four (4) days per week for the right candidate.
