About The Role
We have a rare opportunity for the right person to join our dedicated playgrounds team. This team has a specific function to ensure that our public playgrounds are kept up to safe operating standards.
This role suits individuals who can bring a mix of strong practical skills as well as strong critical thinking and problem solving. You will be individually responsible for a set of parks that will require you to manage your time, prioritise and problem solve your actions efficiently and communicate proactively.
In this role you will carry out inspections to assess any issues on the playgrounds, assess risk and prioritise the work appropriately, isolate or repair, communicate and escalate concerns depending on the potential consequences of the issues.
If you are competent using battery powered hand tools, a safety advocate and looking for a role where you will take ownership of your sites, this could be for you. A physical role you will be doing everything from repairing swing seats, to replacing boxing, installing equipment or shovelling barrow loads of sand.

Tasks And Responsibilities
- Operating an array of hand tools from drills and saws to hammers, spanners etc
- Repairing and replacing playground equipment.
- Manual handling involving physically moving and removing vegetation and debris, shovelling material.
- Assessing and reporting
- Enjoy working outdoors
- Good physical fitness.
- Full 1 NZ driver’s licence – manual
- Critical thinkers – able to assess, prioritise and problem solve
- Strong time management
- Happy to upskill with a Playground certificate level 2
