About the Role

You will be one of five Anaesthetists in a unit which provides a comprehensive service in public and in private for the population of the Wairarapa, as part of this role, you will also provide support for the hospitals High Dependency Unit.

There is a full-time or part-time positions available with an on-call requirement of 1 in 5. Applicants must be eligible for Vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

Wairarapa Hospital provides secondary services for a population of approximately 50,000, providing 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and paediatrics. The hospital operates both Public & Private theatre sessions covering General Surgery, Anesthetics, Orthopedics, Urology, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, as well as Ophthalmic and ENT.

We are committed to clinical excellence in all disciplines; and Senior Medical Staff are encouraged to take part in clinical audits and peer reviews to ensure quality clinical care is provided.

About you

  • Registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligible for registration with the Medical Council to enable practice within New Zealand.
  • Holds a higher qualification appropriate to the specialty which is recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand for specialist registration.
