Contract type: Full time
This position offers you the chance to design and govern a federated data architecture that underpins planning, consent, compliance, and environmental limit data, ensuring seamless interoperability between software platforms and agencies. You will be at the forefront of establishing technical standards and frameworks that enable a collaborative, standards-compliant ecosystem.

What You'll Do

As a Data Architect, you will be entrusted with designing the federated architecture that enables effective sharing of plan, consent, compliance, and environmental limit data across a wide-reaching regulatory system. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with both internal teams and external partners to define technical standards, develop shared metadata registries, and establish robust APIs. You will play an instrumental role in co-designing certification requirements while ensuring interoperability is tested thoroughly across various vendor platforms. By advising on access models, identity management strategies, and stewardship rules, you will help create a secure yet accessible environment for critical data exchange. Your expertise will also be called upon to support business case development for digital transformation projects such as e-Plan/e-Consent initiatives. Success in this role means not only delivering technically sound architectures but also nurturing strong relationships with stakeholders to drive adoption of best practices throughout the ecosystem.

What You Bring

To excel as a Data Architect in this role, you will bring substantial experience architecting federated or distributed systems within environments characterised by multiple stakeholders or agencies. Your background should include hands-on involvement in defining technical standards as well as building APIs that enable seamless integration between different platforms. You will have demonstrated success developing shared metadata registries while navigating the complexities of large-scale integration projects. Your advisory skills around identity management protocols and stewardship frameworks will be essential for guiding secure access models. In addition to your technical acumen, your ability to foster collaboration through excellent interpersonal communication will set you apart—enabling you to bridge gaps between IT professionals, business users, vendors, and policy makers. A keen awareness of evolving trends in data governance ensures your solutions remain compliant with regulatory expectations while supporting innovation. Your commitment to ongoing learning means you are always ready to embrace new challenges as they arise.
