He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to join our Digital team, based in our Newmarket office. In this role, you'll support the performance, security and resilience of Watercare's infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments. You'll be hands-on with technologies such as HyperV, HCI, Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365, helping to maintain and optimise our hybrid infrastructure. You'll contribute to key infrastructure projects, drive automation, support a strong operational framework, and be part of a collaborative team that delivers high-quality IT services across the business. This role is critical in enabling the stability, scalability and security of Watercare's systems and services.

We're after someone who is technically capable, proactive, and solution-focused. You're comfortable managing both physical and cloud infrastructure and thrive in collaborative, agile environments.

You Will Ideally Bring

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Recognised and relevant technology industry certifications
  • Strong experience managing virtualised environments (HyperV, HCI)
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Azure AD, Intune, Exchange Online and M365
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS infrastructure
  • Strong operational knowledge in patching, monitoring (e.g. PRTG), backup and server management
  • Experience supporting Office 365 environments and cloud-first solutions
  • PowerShell scripting experience
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Previous experience working in an enterprise and/or rostered support environment
  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g. Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Solutions Architect)
  • Experience migrating infrastructure to cloud environments
  • Exposure to SQL Server and Azure SQL (DBaaS/PaaS)
  • Familiarity with backup tools such as Commvault and Azure Backup
  • Agile project delivery experience
