We're looking for a passionate and motivated Junior Analytics Specialist to join our Digital team, based in our Newmarket office. In this role, you'll support the Analytics & Insights team across a range of activities including data analysis, dashboard development, report generation, and data modelling. Working under the guidance of experienced Analytics Specialists, you'll learn to implement data solutions that empower the wider organisation to make informed decisions.
You'll be hands-on with leading analytics tools like SQL and Power BI, assisting in the optimisation of reporting processes and helping to drive data-informed thinking across the business. You'll also contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and self-service analytics at Watercare. You Will Ideally Bring
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
- Recognised technology industry certifications
- 1-2 years' experience in the analytics or business intelligence field
- Strong skills in SQL and Power BI
- Solid understanding of data modelling concepts
- Ability to analyse and present data clearly with strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills to explain data insights to stakeholders
- Familiarity with platforms such as Snowflake and dbt
- Understanding of data regulations and governance principles
- Exposure to modern data platforms and analytics tools
- We're also looking for someone who:
- Has a "can-do" attitude and takes initiative
- Is keen to learn and explore new technologies
- Enjoys problem solving and innovation
- Can manage priorities and work independently
- Understands the importance of following processes while being open to improvement
- A level of understanding of Te Ao Māori, te reo me ōna tikanga, and their relevance in public sector organisations would be an advantage.
