We help with a wide range of services, including nursing and medical care, counselling, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, companion visits, equipment loans, respite care, carer education - and so much more! Thanks to funding from Te Whatu Ora, along with the incredible mahi of our fundraising team and the support of our charity shops, we’re able to keep these essential services going.

Our Healthcare Assistants are the face of Waipuna Hospice in our Inpatient Unit. They are vital in supporting our 24/7 service by providing patient-centric care by assisting with personal cares, supporting our registered nurses and doctors as required and other general duties.
Care is tailored to the unique needs of each patient and their family/whānau, encompassing the four dimensions of well-being:

Description:

- Taha tinana - physical health
- Taha hinengaro - mental and emotional well-being
- Taha whānau - social connections and support
- Taha wairua - spiritual health
Skills and Experiences:
About You
Ideal applicants will have…
- HCA qualifications level 3 or 4
- Completion of medication modules will be a strong advantage
- Previous personal care in a palliative care setting
- Ability to communicate sensitively with patients and family
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under the guidance of a Registered Nurse while also showing initiative and contributing positively to the wider team
- Be comfortable working where grief and loss are present, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and emotional resilience
- A clear dedication to excellence in palliative care
- Works well with others, building positive and productive relationships across the team
