We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to become the Head of Tertiary Pathways School at NZSE. Based primarily at our Manukau Campus, this key role oversees Foundation Studies programmes across all campuses.
You will lead staff and programme development, manage tutor performance, timetabling, and professional growth and ensure academic quality and operational effectiveness. Working closely with the Group Academic Director, you’ll help shape an innovative, inclusive learning environment that drives student success.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to become the Head of Tertiary Pathways School at NZSE. Based primarily at our Manukau Campus, this key role oversees Foundation Studies programmes across all campuses.
You will lead staff and programme development, manage tutor performance, timetabling, and professional growth and ensure academic quality and operational effectiveness. Working closely with the Group Academic Director, you’ll help shape an innovative, inclusive learning environment that drives student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold the values of NZSEG kaupapa by fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Provide academic leadership and operational management
- Oversee the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum
- Drive continuous improvement through regular self-assessment, evaluation, external and internal moderation and programme reviews
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of academic reporting, including EER preparation, academic board reports and compliance with NZQA standards
- Work with the Group Academic Director to develop strategic relationships with industry partners, community groups and other stakeholders
- Represent NZSE at sector events and education expos
- Encourage research engagement within the academic team and contribute to scholarly activities
- This role may also involve some teaching to cover staff absences
- Previous experience leading and / or running a department at a Secondary or Tertiary/Vocational space
- Former Secondary School Principal, Senior Faculty in a Secondary School, Academic Leader, Head of School or similar
- Industry connections or experience working with secondary schools, Iwi’s and the community
- Tertiary Qualification – PhD preferred
- Research active
- Experience with course development, moderations and QA
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Diploma or NZ Certificate in Adult Teaching (level 5/6) or willing to work towards one
