Multi Skilled Operator

Stuart Tarbotton Contractors

Date: 4 days ago
City: Ashburton, Canterbury
Contract type: Full time

It all started back in 1990 with Stuart Tarbotton and one digger. In the years since, Tarbotton Land & Civil has grown to include the whole family, plus 40 or so dedicated staff. But one thing hasn’t changed - our commitment to putting in the hard yards for our clients, whatever the job may be. We'll never compromise on our high level of service, quality and accuracy, and we always deliver on our promises.

About the Job

We’re on the hunt for experienced and capable Multi Skilled Operators to join our earthmoving team at Tarbotton Land & Civil. This is not an entry-level role — we’re after professionals who are confident behind the controls of a range of machinery and can hit the ground running.

You’ll be working across a wide variety of civil construction projects, from dairy conversions and subdivision developments to large-scale drainage, roading and earthworks. No two days are the same — and that’s exactly what makes this role exciting. One day you might doing bulk earthworks with a digger, scraper or bulldozer, and the next you could be fine-tuning a site ready for final trim.

You’ll be expected to jump seamlessly between different machines such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and rollers, and confidently take charge of your work area. A practical understanding of site prep, machine capabilities, and ground conditions is essential.

At Tarbotton, we value initiative, accountability, and pride in a job well done. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, supportive team that gets stuck in and backs each other up — with plenty of banter along the way.

Skills You Will Need

  • Minimum three years experience operating 20+ ton excavators
  • Minimum Class 4 Drivers Licence
  • Self-Motivation and be able to work unsupervised
  • Be a team player and have good communication skills
  • Ability to complete a job to a high standard
  • A good attitude towards Health and Safety

What's In It For You?

Above all else, you will experience firsthand working with a team who love what they do and come together to deliver successful outcomes.

Applicants for this position should have New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa.
