We are seeking one customer-focused Telecommunications Assistant join our team on a full-time basis. If you have a strong passion to deal with diverse IT-related issues and assist our valued customers, this could be the perfect opportunity for you in this role. You will be paid $26 -$30 per hour depending on experience. You will work a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 50 hours a week.

You are required to work on weekends and as per roaster shifts. The job will be based in Christchurch, Canterbury region.

You will be responsible for:

  • Support electricians or telecommunications technicians by preparing work areas and gathering required tools and materials.
  • Hold or position equipment, components, or wiring for installation or repair work
  • Help with the routing, laying, and securing of electrical or telecommunications cables.
  • Assist in the connection of wires and cables to terminals and equipment.
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision to assist with installations and repairs.
  • Carry out routine testing and inspection of equipment and cables under direction.
  • Set up ladders, scaffolding, safety barriers, and workstations as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the work area; remove debris and dispose of waste materials properly.
  • Unload, carry, and store materials, parts, and tools.
  • Check inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
  • Follow health and safety procedures on-site, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify hazards and report them to supervisors.
  • Support the installation of telecommunications hardware such as antennas, switches, cabling trays, junction boxes, routers, and related systems.
  • Assist in maintaining basic records of materials used and tasks completed.
  • Report issues, delays, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment between job sites.
  • Assist in the setup of temporary workstations or mobile workshops if required.
