Our Opportunity

At Mercury, our Transformation and Optimisation Team empowers Mercury to deliver on its strategy by embedding adaptive practices, aligning enterprise planning and performance, and enabling the delivery of Mercury's key strategic objectives.

As a Project Manager at Mercury, you will take charge of the end-to-end delivery of projects that drive our Strategic Objectives. Leading cross-functional teams, you will deliver exceptional value through structured yet adaptive methodologies tailored to achieve outstanding outcomes. Your role will ensure clarity of scope, alignment with business objectives, effective stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of tangible benefits.

The preference is for this role to be based in Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton or Rotorua. Mercury operates in a hybrid work environment, providing you the flexibility to work from home and collaborate in our our modern offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Ownership: Own the end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and value realization.
  • Planning and Execution: Design and lead planning approaches, establish delivery structures, and drive disciplined execution practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and influence stakeholders, manage expectations, and provide transparency.
  • Governance and Reporting: Maintain governance processes, deliver high-quality reporting, and highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Vendor Management: Lead vendor engagements, manage outcomes, and collaborate with enabling teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and champion Mercury's Ways of Working.

We Are Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, or related discipline preferred.
  • PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred.
  • Agile or Lean certification desirable.
  • 5+ years of project management experience across business and/or technology domains.
  • Proven track record in delivering medium to large projects using Agile and Waterfall approaches.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Sound financial skills in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments.
