A rare opportunity to combine lifestyle and career within dental radiography is currently available for a senior qualified Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) here within our Faculty of Dentistry. We are currently looking for a MIT Team Leader for Dentistry to provide leadership to our radiography team working with under and post-graduate students and staff who deliver services for private and public patients across all ages.

Some key tasks include:
  • Educating and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Providing complete and efficient radiographic dento-maxillo-facial x-ray imaging services.
  • Assisting academic staff, students and research fellows who may wish to use radiographic techniques as part of their research.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Managing the small MRT team to deliver a service that is integrated with the patient management wider learning in Bachelor of Oral Health, Bachelor of Dentistry and Bachelor of Dental Technology.
  • An efficient and effective Dentistry imaging service.
  • Patient centric leader, with a best for patient, best for system and learning approach.
  • Ensuring standardised, quality and consistent imaging is provided at all times across Auckland and Dunedin locations.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

You are a New Zealand-registered Medical Imaging Technologist with suitable experience, including imaging and leadership responsibilities, who thrives with change and project development.

With a strong clinical foundation and proven leadership skills, you're committed to delivering a programme of learning materials to students that delivers high-quality, patient-centred care and efficiently manages imaging service needs of the Faculty.

You bring a collaborative and solutions-focused approach to service planning, daily operations, and team development, ensuring consistent standards, patient safety, and ongoing quality improvement.

You're confident navigating operational challenges, supporting staff and student development, and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture. Aligned with the values of our organisation you lead by example, striving for the best outcomes for patients staff, and the wider health and education community.

Essentials:
  • Satisfies the requirements of the NZMRT Board.
  • Holds a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
  • Have strong people skills with the ability to teach and assist students and staff.
  • Possess the ability to relate to patients and provide a high level of service
  • You will be competent with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or show a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range for this role is $78,018 to $82,753 per annum. Top of the range is $97,368.
