Based at our Hokitika site, we are looking for a Packaging Specialist to join our Technical Team for a 10-month fixed term contract. This role plays a critical part in the management of packaging and ingredient documentation, supplier approvals, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with food safety standards.
You will work closely with the Procurement, Technical, and Innovation teams to support business-as-usual activities as well as new packaging developments, audits, and optimisations.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain approved packaging materials, ingredient specifications, and supplier documentation
- Lead packaging material and supplier approval processes
- Support procurement with technical assessments and supplier evaluations
- Maintain and update BOM and packaging/ingredient specification data
- Identify packaging improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Support audits, compliance requirements, and customer complaints
- Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives for documentation and tracking
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry and/or working with quality systems
- A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Engineering, or Science (desirable)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with attention to detail
- Confidence working with documentation systems and digital platforms (SharePoint, Power BI, ERP, etc.)
